Mayor Isko donates P8.8-million worth of tablets to UdM students

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso donated over a thousand tablets worth around P8.8 million to poverty-stricken students of the Unibersidad de Manila (UdM).

Domagoso, along with Manila Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan, turned over 1,010 Samsung Galaxy A Tablets to UdM President Malou Tiquia on Thursday.

“Alam ko po ang hirap na dinaranas ng mga mag-aaral, lalo na mga mahihirap na nasa ating mga pampublikong paaralan (I know the difficulties being experienced by our students, especially the poor in our public schools),” Domagoso said in a statement.

“Kaya’t inihahandog po namin ito ni Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna sa mga poorest of the poor na mag-aaral ng UdM. Hangad po namin silang matulungan sa kanilang online classes ngayong may blended distance learning mode dahil sa pandemya dulot ng COVID-19 pandemic (That is why Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna and I are offering these to the poorest of the poor students of UdM. We hope to help them in their online classes now that they are experiencing the blended distance learning mode because of the COVID-19 pandemic),” he added.

The Manila mayor sourced the funds to purchase the tablets from his modeling and talent fees from the private companies including Chooks to Go, Power Tools, IAM Worldwide Coffee, Fruitas, Cosmic Technologies Inc., and Better Option Pharmaceutical.

The UdM management will handle the distribution of the tablets to its students.
