P13.9-M San Carlos City buy-bust linked to huge drug hauls in Cebu, Sibulan

BACOLOD CITY - About two kilos of suspected shabu worth P13,940,000 were seized in a buy-bust operation in Barangay 1, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Monday.

Joint operatives of the San Carlos City Police Station, Regional Intelligence Division (RID)-6, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Region 6 arrested Emmanuel Siaboc, 31, of Barangay 6, who was listed as a high value individual of Police Regional Office (PRO)-6. He was with William Allones but the latter was able to evade arrest during the operation at Barangay 1.

Police recovered during the operation about two kilos of suspected shabu wrapped with an electrical tape and was placed inside a tea bag, the P200,000 marked money, and P100,000 boodle money. Pursuit operation is ongoing for the arrest of Allones.

This development came after the huge drug haul of P47 million in Cebu, and the P13.7-million worth of the shabu in a bloody drug bust in Sibulan, Negros Oriental last Sunday. 

The three arrested persons in Cebu told the police that the illegal drugs were transported from San Carlos City to Cebu, while a resident from the said city was killed in a police shootout in Sibulan town.

Maj. Mark Angelo Junco, city police chief, said the source of the contraband might be the same supplier in Cebu and Sibulan.

Junco said the illegal drugs were transported through San Carlos City, but the source of was not from Negros Occidental.

Junco said they were investigating how the contraband was able to reach these areas.

He added that Siaboc was an alleged drug runner while Allones and Jomarie Yongco, who was killed in Sibulan drug bust, reportedly served as caretaker of the illegal drugs.

“They rented a house and stayed there for about 10 days until the items arrived,” he added.

Junco said the series of drug bust operations last Sunday, pointing to San Carlos City as the source, was alarming. This was the reason why they conducted intelligence monitoring, and were able to arrest Siaboc.

Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Rene Pamuspusan, PRO-6 director vowed to be more exacting in their campaign against illegal drugs. “We will go after high value individuals in Western Visayas,” he said.
