LPA to bring scattered rains until Friday

The low pressure area (LPA) over Eastern Visayas may continue to bring rains over Southern Luzon, Bicol, and Visayas, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The LPA was spotted 55 kilometers west-northwest of Catarman, Northern Samar early Tuesday. It remains less likely to develop into a tropical depression.

In its 5 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may affect Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, and most of Visayas.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have warm and humid mornings but with a high chance of isolated rain showers due to thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.

The whole country should take necessary precautionary measures in case severe thunderstorms occur due to the possibility of flash floods or landslides.

Based on the PAGASA's extended weather outlook for selected areas, scattered rain showers due to the LPA may prevail over Legazpi City, Puerto Princesa City, Iloilo City, and Bacolod City on Wednesday. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

By Thursday, more areas may experience scattered rain showers that include Metro Manila, Olongapo City, Angeles City, Tagaytay City, Lipa City, Puerto Princesa City, Legazpi City, Iloilo City, and Bacolod City.

Scattered rain showers may prevail in these areas until Friday, including Tuguegarao City, Laoag City, and Baguio City.

The rest of the country will have warm mornings with isolated afternoon or evening rain showers or thunderstorms persisting during this period.
