83rd Malasakit Center established in Oriental Mindoro


     CALAPAN CITY – Governor Humerlito A. Dolor acknowledged that the new Malasakit Center, which was inaugurated recently here, will play a vital role in the implementation of efficient health and social welfare programs of the province as it is expected to benefit the majority of his constituents particularly indigent families.  

     Dolor thanked Senator Christopher “Bong” Go for facilitating the establishment of the center last Friday, September 18, now the 83rd outlet in the country, the creation of which was mandated by Republic Act 11463.

    “This is the realization of our call in the past to improve the medical services in our government hospitals particularly the provincial hospital in Calapan,” Dolor said in his speech during the inauguration ceremony of Malasakit Center at the Oriental Mindoro Provincial Hospital (OMPH) building coinciding with the launching of a local health program dubbed “Sampu Mo Sagot ng Kapitolyo”.

     Dolor said the Malasakit Center will serve as one-stop-shop to lessen the burden of the patients and give them access to free medicines.

     Go relayed his message via online as he thanked also the governor, mayors, hospital staffs and other local government officials and representatives of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Philhealth, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor), and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for supporting his brainchild.

     “There is no politics in Malasakit Centers.We are just giving back to the people their money which they paid in their taxes,” Go stressed in his virtual message.

     Go also announced that the newly-opened Malasakit Center has been allotted with a P5-million monthly fund for its operational expenses.

     Dolor said that, under its own “Sampu Mo Sagot ng Kapitolyo” program, the provincial government will shoulder up to P10,000 of the bills of the patients confined in all public hospitals.
