4 cases of COVID-19 among Filipinos abroad reported

Philippine Embassies and Consulates in Asia and the Pacific have monitored only four new confirmed COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) cases involving Filipinos in that region, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Sunday.

The DFA said they have not received any report of new recoveries and new fatalities among overseas Filipinos elsewhere in the world.

Since the start of the outbreak last February, the Philippines had so far recorded a total of 10,390 COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad.

Of the total, 3,019 are still undergoing treatment, 6,594 have recovered and 777 died of the disease.

Meanwhile, the repatriation of overseas Filipinos affected by the pandemic has now reached 185,650.

This week alone, 11,611 Filipinos abroad have been flown home amid the onslaught of the pandemic, courtesy of the DFA’s repatriation program.
Latest DFA tally showed that 65,048 (35.04%) are sea-based while 120,602 (64.96%) are land-based.
