Gordon made the announcement as he and SMC president and COO Ramon Ang led the blood and convalescent plasma donation drive among SMC employees on Thursday.

The blood donation drive is part of SMC’s response to the continuous need for blood supply and its contribution to the treatment of COVID-19 patients.

“San Miguel Corporation, led by Mr. Ramon Ang, has gone above and beyond in many ways. Mayroon silang kusang-loob, malasakit, at kapwa-tao, (They have the initiative, compassion, concern for fellowmen). They took the initiative to partner with the Philippine Red Cross for a nationwide blood donation drive,” Gordon said during the virtual launch of the event.

Ang said he is encouraging his employees to donate blood to the PRC in order to help those who are in need especially during this time of a COVID-19 pandemic.

The SMC president also said SMC is fortunate to partner with the PRC, as this gives the company an opportunity to be part of the government’s efforts to combat COVID.

Gordon said he hopes other Filipino companies will follow SMC’s actions and help in the PRC’s blood donation drive.

“If we can do this, we will remain a safe country in terms of blood supply. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank and congratulate you, the participating SMC branches throughout the country, for helping the most vulnerable,” said Gordon, president and CEO of the PRC.
