EXCLUSIVE: Jonas Gaffud gives love advice to his 'daughter' Pia Wurtzbach

Jonas Gaffud, creative and events director of Miss Universe Philippines, is not a love guru but he sure has a special advice for his "daughter" 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach when it comes to relationships.

"Relationships should bring out the best in you. The right partner supports both your personal and professional success and should always be the ally you can count on no matter what," said Gaffud when asked about his love advice for Pia during an online chat recently.

Jonas fondly calls Pia "anak" (child) after he groomed her as one of the successful beauty queens in the country.

When asked how he would describe her when she's in love, he said: "She is fiercely loyal and caring."

These days, Pia is in a relationship with Scottish travel and social media entrepreneur Jeremy Jauncey, also CEO of Beautiful Destinations.

In June, Pia and Jeremy confirmed their relationship when they graced the cover of a glossy magazine. Jeremy first saw Pia in London and he was blown away, according to reports. Pia said that there was an "immediate spark" when they met.

When Pia became Miss Universe in 2015, she was romantically linked to "Sexiest Doctor Alive" Mikhail Varshavski. But it didn't prosper.

In 2016, Pia started dating professional car racer Marlon Stockinger. They became sweethearts but broke-up in December 2019.

Jonas said that it would be up to Pia to decide the best time for her to settle down.

"I think this is something I trust her to decide on. Pia is an empowered woman with a good head on her shoulders. When she's with the right partner and they're ready to take that step, I will fully support them," he said.

The beauty queen is a former contract star of ABS-CBN. But with the broadcast network already closed, Jonas hinted at the possibility for Pia to work in other networks.

"Pia can work with anyone as long as the project is good and her schedule permits," said Jonas.

Jonas said that the grand finals of the 2020 Miss Universe Philippines beauty pageant will push through on Oct. 25.

"Do watch out for it. Subscribe to Ring Light. It's our unique offering, something we are quite proud to share with our audience given the extraordinary challenges thrown our way this year," he said.

Fifty-one delegates are competing at the inaugural contest. On coronation night, Jonas said: "It will have the traditional segments expected from a beauty pageant, but watch out for a fresher and insightful take. Our team poured their heart and soul to this and we are so excited to finally unveil our work."
