Oblates of the Philippine Province has new supervisor

The Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) Philippine Province has a new provincial superior.

The OMI Philippines on Tuesday announced the appointment of Father Gerry Gamaliel de los Reyes to the post in their Facebook page Tuesday.

"Join us in thanking the Lord: Fr. Gerry Gamaliel de los Reyes, OMI a long time missionary to Thailand has been appointed as the new Provincial Superior of the Oblates of the Philippine Province for a term of three years!" read the post.

Delos Reyes replaced Bishop Charlie Inzon who was appointed by Pope Francis as Vicar Apostolic of the Vicariate of Jolo in April.

In a newsletter, OMI said Fr. Gerry was born in Cotabato City on August 14. 1964. He entered the Juniorate Seminary at Cotabato City in 1983, the Tamontaka Novitiate in Datu Odin Sinsuat in 1985 and Our Lady of Assumption Scholasticate on May 21, 1986.

He professed his perpetual vows on September 14, 1989, at the Our Lady of Grace Parish, in Caloocan City and was ordained priest on April 1993.

He finished his Philosophy at Notre Dame University in 1988 and Theology at the Loyola School of Theology in 1993.

After ordination, Fr. Gerry was assigned as parish priest in Timanan, South Upi in 1983 and later assigned as Parochial Vicar of the Our Lady of Grace Parish, Grace Park, Caloocan City, in 1996.

He then became a member of the Thailand Delegation in 1999 after having served as a foreign missionary in 1998. He eventually became the Thai-Laos Delegation Superior and will now be serving his new post.
