DOH registers 19 new COVID-19 cases in Caraga region

BUTUAN CITY – Nineteen newly-confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases were recorded in Caraga Region on Wednesday, the Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) reported on Thursday.

The regional office of the DOH-CHD13 here said of the new infections, 18 are from the region’s premier and capital city of Butuan city, and one from Bislig City in Surigao del Sur province.

The new cases, per barangay, in Butuan City are as follows: Libertad (5), Baan Riverside (3), Doongan (3), and one each from Bading, Bancasi, Bayanihan, Dumalagan, Port Poyohon, Tandang Sora, and Villa Kananga.

The new COVID-19 case in Bislig City was registered in Barangay Mangagoy.

Of the new confirmed cases, 10 are in close contact with previously confirmed cases, seven are local transmission cases, one is a health worker, and one is another frontliner.

Twelve of the new cases are asymptomatic while seven are experiencing mild symptoms, the state health agency added.

“All new cases are already quarantined, monitored, and managed accordingly,” it said.

As of Wednesday, the DOH-13 said the region has a total of 859 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in March this year.

The region has recorded 479 recoveries, 358 active cases, and 22 deaths, the DOH-CHD 13 added.
