Angono mayor orders all cemeteries closed from Oct. 30 to Nov. 3

Angono Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon signed an executive order on September 15 prohibiting all residents and non-residents from visiting public and private cemeteries and columbarium in the municipality from October 30 to November 3 for temporary closure.

The town has one public cemetery and two private cemeteries where a columbarium is located.

The order also stated that the public may visit their departed loved ones between October 1 to October 29, or even earlier, but must strictly observe the following guidelines:

· Visit shall be allowed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. only;

· Family gatherings are prohibited inside the cemeteries;

· Erection/installation of tents will not be allowed;

· Maximum stay inside the cemeteries shall be one hour only;

· Only 200 persons in each cemetery shall be allowed in every hour; and

· Any person below 21 and above 60 years old, and those with comorbidity, immunodeficiency, and other health risks (including pregnant women) shall not be allowed entry.

The municipal government encourages religious organizations or groups to conduct religious services from October 30 to November 3 via live streaming. 

Cleaning of graveyards is allowed until September 29. But the local chief executive reminds the public that only 50 percent of each cemetery’s capacity will be allowed and must strictly practice the minimum health standards.
