Western Visayas police nab 2,411 most wanted persons in first 9 months of 2020

ILOILO CITY—For the first nine months of the year, a total of 2,411 most wanted persons were arrested in Western Visayas region even as much of the police manpower was utilized for the government’s effort to combat coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“We were able to sustain our campaign against wanted persons. We are intensifying our manhunt operations to arrest them and hold them accountable for the crimes they committed,” assured Brig. Gen. Rene Pamuspusan, Police Regional Office (PRO-6) director.

Data released by PRO-6 Wednesday, September 16, found that Negros Police Provincial Office (Negros PPO) had the biggest accomplishment for the period of January to September 15. Negros PPO arrested a total of 1,196 most wanted persons.

Negros PPO was followed by Iloilo PPO with the arrest of 492 most wanted persons.

There were also 158 most wanted persons arrested in Capiz province, 138 in Bacolod City, 115 in Aklan province, 100 in Iloilo City, 83 in Antique province, and 55 in Guimaras province.

PRO-6 Spokesperson Police Lt. Joem Malong said that other units of PRO-6 also went after most wanted persons. The Regional Criminal Investigation and Detective Unit (RCIDU-6) arrested 57 while the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 (RMFB-6) arrested 17.

Meanwhile, 12 other most wanted persons voluntarily surrendered to cops across Western Visayas.
