The distribution of the second tranche of the Department of Social Welfare and Development's (DSWD) cash assistance in Quezon City will be done manually again as the department is having difficulty reaching out to some beneficiaries due to lack of contact details necessary for electronic payout.
The Quezon City government announced this Tuesday after the DSWD explained to them the reason behind the delay in the SAP2 distribution.
“Sa wakas, nakipag-ugnayan na rin sa atin ang DSWD pagkaraan ng matagal na panahon nating pag-aapela na mabigyan ng paglilinaw (The DSWD finally reached out to us after some time of appealing to the shed light on the delays of cash aid distribution),” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.
“Naipaliwanag sa amin na nahihirapan sila sa pamimigay dahil marami sa mga benepisyaryo ay hindi kumpleto ang impormasyon, gaya ng cellphone number (It was explained to us that the DSWD had difficulty distributing the money because many beneficiaries did not provide complete information, such as cellphone number),” she added.
With this development, the local government said the DSWD is currently looking for a new payout venue where they could finally distribute the cash aid to the beneficiaries who have not yet received theirs. Out of 377,584 second tranche beneficiaries, only 151,192 have received their cash aid.
Instead of using financial service providers such as GCash where the money could be received electronically, the cash distribution for the second tranche will be made manually again, like the first one.
The payout will most likely be held in October, the local government said.
“Pinaplantsa lang nila ang mga detalye para ito’y agad na maisakatuparan at upang mapakinabangan na ng ating mga residente ang SAP na ipinangako sa kanila ng national government (The DSWD is already finalizing some necessary details so the residents will receive finally the SAP promised to them by the national government),” Belmonte added.
