Multi-million investment scammer busted by Bulacan cops

CAMP GENERAL ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan -- An investment scammer who duped prospective investors of close to P13 million was arrested by operatives of the Bulacan Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) in Barangay Pagala Baliuag this province.

Col. Lawrence B. Cajipe, Bulacan police director, identified the arrested suspect as Ma. Lea Ulang, 29, a businesswoman and resident of Barangay Layunan Binangonan, Rizal.

Based on the report of Maj. Jansky Andrew Jaafar, Bulacan Intelligence Chief, his men were armed with a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Mario B Capelan of RTC Malolos City, Branch 1 for the crime of estafa dated August, 2020, when the suspect was arrested.

When the police posted the arrest of the suspect on Facebook, one of the suspect's victims, identified as Rosemarie Guerero, immediately went to Bulacan PPO and lodged a complaint.

The victim identified the suspect and said that she and many others were persuaded by Ulang to invest in a venture which turned out to be fraudulent. Close to P13,000,000 pesos were taken from them by the suspect.

Ulang is now under the custody of PIU, Bulacan PPO for proper disposition, while additional criminal charges will be filed against her in court.
