Cayetano lauds arrest of 16 quarantine violators in Taguig

Mayor Lino Cayetano has commended the arrest of 16 individuals who violated community quarantine rules in Bgy. Lower Bicutan in Taguig on Sept. 12.

The 16 were nabbed while having a drinking session at a birthday celebration and not wearing face masks and not observing social distancing. 

A netizen sent photos of the drinking session to the Facebook account of the Joint Task Force (JTF) COVID Shield.

“The City Government of Taguig  would like to congratulate COVID Shield Task Force Commander Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar for the arrest by his men, together with the Taguig police led by Col. Celso Rodriguez, of these individuals who were found in violation of  City Ordinance No. 27-89 that prohibits drinking in public places,” Cayetano said. 

He said the suspects were “later charged with violating Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code for resistance and disobedience to a person in authority.”

Eleazar identified the arrested individuals as Michael Quijou, 21; Ralph Cruz, 19; Nichole Cruz, 21; Ian Augala, 21; Christian Pregil, 21; Paul Belarmino, 21; Enen Sison, 21; Jojo Angala, 39; Jackie Bosque, 37; Franz Pascua, 19; Monica Reyes, 19; Kevin John de Guzman, 23; Ivan Pacete, 21; Gabriel Inserto, 21; Mark Anthony Ortigas, 21; and a 17-year old female.

“Taguig City will continue to pursue violators of health and safety protocols. The city takes pride in being among the cities with the lowest active Covid-19 cases in Metro Manila. Taguig's citizens are mostly disciplined and cooperative but like any city, it faces challenges,” according to Cayetano. 

He said Taguig has activated the Tapang Malasakit Disiplina team composed of 1,000 members to help the police in enforcing “the city's new normal ordinance that aims to help stop the spread of COVID-19.” 

Cayetano said “Taguig is among the cities with the lowest active cases in Metro Manila because of its aggressive approach in implementing rules and regulations.”

“Although the city's comprehensive approach is centered on compassion and education, partnering with individuals and institutions to fight the virus, the city continues to vow to pursue cases against individuals and establishments that are not cooperating,” he added.
