Quezon Provincial Police Office (QPPO) Director Col. Audie Madrideo said the operation stemmed from a complaint of a local resident about a group of noisy gamblers inside Bico Subdivision in Barangay Malabanban at around 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

Madrideo said police personnel were sent in the area where they arrested the six suspects, and confiscated betting money and two wounded fighting cocks.

He identified those arrested as Francis Rubala, 46; Arnie Castillo, 34; Reysher Bagaman, 38; Crisdon Concepcion, 33; Nestor dela Alas, 54; and, Richborn Gonzales, 32.

Several people were believed to have escaped before the police arrived.

The Joint Task Force COVID Shield earlier urged the public, particularly netizens, to report people violating the quarantine rules in their respective community, citing the threat of coronavirus infection.

Police commanders were also tasked to monitor viral social media posts and those reported by netizens, similar to what happened in Taguig City wherein 16 people were collared when a netizen sent to the JTF COVID Shield Facebook page photos of their drinking session.
