Planning to visit Tagaytay? You need to have a Travel Authority -- Eleazar
Planning to travel to Tagaytay City?
Well, you are still required to secure a travel document if you are not a resident of any area in Cavite.
The Joint Task Force COVID Shield clarified on Monday that people going to Tagaytay City, which is a favorite destination of Metro Manila residents for its Baguio City-like ambiance, are still advised to get a Travel Authority in order to avoid possible hassle that include being barred entry.

Police Lt. Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, commander of the JTF COVID Shield, said the travel protocol is based on the existing guideline from both the National Task Force (NTF) on COVID-19 and the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-MEID).
“We have not received any new directive from both the NTF and IATF that travel restrictions to Tagaytay City are already lifted. So we are sticking to the existing policy that a Travel Authority is still needed if the travel requires crossing the border of Metro Manila, a province and a Highly-Urbanized City,” said Eleazar.
The requirement for the Travel Authority was approved before in order to secure areas from the entry of the coronavirus coming from outsiders.
There are two major requirements for Travel Authority: First is a Medical Clearance Certificate issued by City or Municipal Health Office, and, prior coordination with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of destination.
The LGUs, through its local police force, are the ones giving a go-signal to travel. The receiving LGU may delay the travel of the Travel Authority applicant.
Following this travel protocol, Eleazar said only residents of Cavite are allowed to go to Tagaytay City without the Travel Authority.
Aside from Cavite residents, those who are listed under the Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR) can go to Tagaytay without Travel Authority but under the condition that the travel is work-related.
The JTF COVID Shield, composed of the police, military, Coast Guard and Bureau of Fire personnel, is the enforcement arm of the NTF on COVID-19 and the IATF.
