Alternative CAVITEX entry opens tomorrow

An alternative entry into the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX)  via the Pacific Drive opens Monday, September 14, 2020 and is expected to serve 90,000 vehicles per day.

Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC) with its joint venture partner, Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) made the announcement on Friday.

The opening of Pacific Drive entry compliments the Roxas Boulevard entry and is part of the enhancement projects on the 14-kilometer expressway.

It comes as vehicular volume along the CAVITEX is projected to surge after government relaxes the quarantine status in Metro Manila and CALABARZON.

Motorists can enter the CAVITEX through D. Macapagal Boulevard, easing traffic from Roxas Boulevard and roads around Entertainment City and other areas such as Manila, Pasay, Paranaque," according to Roberto V. Bontia, CIC President and General Manager.

Furthermore, motorists can avail of their Easytrip Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) before the CAVITEX and other tollroads across Luzon convert all cash lanes into RFID lanes starting November 2, 2020.

This follows the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Order No. 2020-012 requiring all tollroad concessionaires to do away with cash transactions to curb the Covid-19 pandemic and ensure smooth traffic flow along expressways.

Motorists can purchase and reload their Easytrip RFID directly at 24/7 Customer Service Centers along the CAVITEX.

Reloading may also be done online via PayMaya, BDO, ECPay and other partner-merchants of Easytrip. The initial and succeeding loads are non-expiring and consumable.

Metro Pacific tollroads also accept the Autosweep RFID used along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), the NAIA Expressway (NAIAX) and the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX) upon enrollment and activation.

Motorists need only to bring their vehicles with the Autosweep RFID to any Easytrip installation and reloading site, top up an initial load of PhP 200, then will be able to use their Autosweep RFID at Metro Pacific tollroads 24-hours upon activation.

Aside from the CAVITEX, the Easytrip RFID can also be used along the CAVITEX C5 Link Expressway and other expressways operated by the Metro Pacific Tollways Group - the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).
