Student tests positive for COVID-19 after attending face-to-face classes in Isabela


ISABELA – The City Health Office of Cauayan City here is currently conducting extensive contact tracing after a student of a private school who attended face-to-face classes, tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Report from the Cagayan Provincial Information Office (CPIO) said the result of the swab test on the infected student, tagged as CV969, came out last Saturday, August 5. It also said that 45 other students were confirmed to have attended the face-to-face classes last week.

The infected student was said to have had close contact with COVID-19 patient CV823, a city hall employee.

Thirty-three (33) people, who were known to have had direct contact with the student, have already undergone swab tests, according to CPIO.

Meanwhile, the Cauayan city government has shut down the private school.

“It's a private school which is now temporarily closed din po,” a staff of the Cauayan city government said.

In a statement sent by the Cauayan City government, through lawyer Reina Santos, face-to-face classes in the city started to be allowed ever since the province of Isabela was placed under the less restrictive modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

It said this was in accordance with guidelines set forth by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
