Badoy tells reps: Publicly condemn CPP-NPA-NDF and I'll step down
Communications Undersecretary Lorraine Badoy said she will heed the call of progressive lawmakers for her to resign from her post if they will publicly condemn the supposed atrocities of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF).

Badoy made the statement after the House of Representatives deferred the budget hearing of the entire Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) due to Badoy's alleged red-tagging of some lawmakers.
In a statement, Badoy told representatives France Castro, Carlos Zarate, Ferdinand Gaite, Arlene Brosas, Sarah Elago, and Eufemia Cullamat that she will immediately resign if the six of them will publicly condemn the acts of the CPP-NPA-NDF and stand by the government in its fight against the communist rebels.
She likewise challenged them to urge CPP founder Jose Maria Sison and their comrades with warrants of arrest and face their charges in the country.
"Wala pang isang minuto na ginawa niyo 'yan, iaabot ko ang sulat ng pagbibitiw ko sa aking appointing officer, ang ating Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte, bilang Undersecretary ng Presidential Communications Operations Office (Not one minute will pass after you do that and I will tender my resignation to my appointing officer, President Duterte, as Undersecretary of the PCOO)," she added.
Badoy laid down the following acts committed by the CPP-NPA-NDF that the lawmakers should condemn for her to step down from her post:
The Rano Massacre, also known as the Digos Massacre that resulted in the death of 39 individuals in 1989;
The Plaza Miranda bombing that killed nine people in 1971;
The Inopacan Massacre where communist rebels killed their own;
The CPP-NPA-NDF's "internal purging" that killed more than 2,000 of its members from 1985 to 1991;
The recruitment of thousands of its youth members and urging them to fight the government;
The murder of tribal leaders which she claimed is happening until this day;
The "violent and inhumane" killing of indigenous peoples (IPs);
Extorting IPs and businessmen;
The death of a four-month-old baby in Talacad, Bukidnon because of their ambush on a police car in 2017;
Raping IPs, mostly minors, that took place in Salugpungan schools;
Tricking IPs to construct schools for their children but really terrorist training camps;
Targeting and radicalizing students of state universities like the University of the Philippines (UP) and Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), and sowing hatred in their minds and hearts;
The death of countless soldiers over the past five decades;
Destroying billions of pesos in government and private properties;
Destroying the country and its image before international organizations through blatant lies so they can get funding;
The arson, bombing, and destruction of heavy equipment of civilian projects that cost the jobs of thousands of people;
Economic sabotage; and
Killing the soldiers accompanying government officials in charge of distributing the cash aide during the pandemic.
According to Badoy, she will apologize to the said lawmakers, publicly state that she wrongfully accused them of being members of the CPP-NPA-NDF, and remove all of her social media posts declaring them as such if they can meet her conditions.
"'Pag ginawa niyo 'yan, agaran akong hihingi ng paumanhin sa inyo at ihahayag ko sa publiko na nagkamali ako sa pagbintang na mga high-ranking party members kayo ng (If you do that, I will immediately apologize to you and state publicly that I was wrong in accusing you to be high-ranking party members of the) CPP-NPA-NDF," she said.
