African Swine Fever (ASF) recorded in Carmona, Cavite

CARMONA, Cavite - The municipal government reported on Wednesday a case of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Barangay Lantic.

The local government unit (LGU) received a letter from the Department of Agriculture on Sept. 8 confirming the ASF case.

Mayor Roy M. Loyola asked hog raisers and residents to coordinate with local officials if they suspect an ASF infection in their area.

Consumers are also encouraged to buy pork only from legitimate sources and to make sure that the vendor has a National Meat Inspection Service accreditation certificate.

The LGU is coordinating with the Provincial Veterinary Office to intensify measures to mitigate the spread of the viral disease that affects pigs.
