6 municipalities still have active cases of ASF in Pangasinan
PANGASINAN -- Assistant Provincial Veterinarian Jovito Tabarejos said there were still active cases of African swine fever (ASF) in six municipalities of Pangasinan.
These cases could reportedly be found in the municipalities of Mabini, Agno, Dasol Umingan, Tayug and in Natividad.
But, he added, a total of 33 municipalities have confirmed cases of ASF.
Tabarejos and Provincial Agriculturist Dalisay Moya assured hog raisers of support from the provincial government, led by Governor Amado I. Espino III.
Tabajeros said, the provincial government granted P2.5-million financial assistance to 323 hog owners in Mangaldan.
The provincial government has also scheduled the turn-over of financial assistance to other hog owners from other local governments units (LGUs), including: Bugallon (September 8), Lingayen (September 10), Basista (September 15), Binmaley (September 17), Calasiao (September 22), Malasiqui (September 24), San Carlos City (September 29) and Sual (October 1).
While, the Department of Agriculture (DA) compensates a maximum of 20 hogs per owner at P5,000 per hog, the provinc provides assistance of P1,000 per head.
Tabarejos said all swine raisers affected by the ASF are qualified to be compensated provided that they have the proper certifications.
“Ang certification po ay manggagaling sa mga municipal agriculturist at sila rin ang gumagawa ng master list ng babayaran ng Department of Agriculture, duly signed by the barangay captain, the municipal mayor and the provincial veterinarian,” Tabarejos stated.
