Liza Soberano slams decision to pardon Pemberton

Following the decision to grant absolute pardon to US Marine Lance Cpl. Joseph Scott Pemberton, actress Liza Soberano took to social media Monday night to express her disgust over President Duterte’s judgment.

“So a murderer was just released for good conduct. Are we supposed to just forget that he killed Jennifer Laude because he’s done some good?” asked Soberano on Twitter September 7.

“Sorry for the type, I’m so angry I don’t even read my tweets before tweeting.

“Another question, you think this murderer (I’m not even gonna say his name) wasn’t treated fairly but, was it fair that Jennifer Laude was murdered out of hate just because of her sexual orientation? #TransLivesMatter,” Soberano tweeted.

Pemberton was convicted of killing transgender woman Jennifer Laude in 2014.

Last week, a local court ruled that Pemberton was qualified for early release due to good behavior.
