There are more hybrids in the market as Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) joins the new segment with its newly launched Outlander PHEV. Now available in the Philippines, Mitsubishi’s plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in the world will initially start sales in the country via the Peak Motors Philippines Inc. (PMPI) dealership in Manila Bay branch.
It may be new to Filipinos, but the Outlander is already in its third generation. The Outlander PHEV variant has sold over 260,000 units across Europe, North America, Japan and Australia.
The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV was designed to fuse the best traits of Mitsubishi’s most iconic vehicles, from the capable Pajero SUV, to the iconic Lancer Evolution 4WD rally car, and the pure electric i-MiEV. It’s hybrid powerplant, SUV form, and smart 4WD system combine to provide high fuel efficiency, enjoyable driving, and versatile practicality.
The Outlander PHEV uses a combination of a gasoline engine and twin electric motors to drive all four wheels of vehicle. Because the electric motors directly drive both front and wheel axles, the Outlander PHEV can send much more torque, even from a stationary position.
It’s unique combination of motors, combined with a plug-in charging features allows drivers to drive up to 60 kilometers on pure electricity from a full charge. In hybrid mode, it can achieve fuel efficiency of a s high a 55.5 kilometers per liter, depending on the conditions.
In spite of the high tech and environmentally-friendly power plant, it’s still designed to be as comfortable and practical as any car. The compact SUV can comfortably seat 5 adults with flexible seat configurations to accommodate various cargo requirements. A maximum 1,602 L of space can be utilized when the second row is folded.
It’s equipped with an eight-inch Smartphone-Link Display Audio (SDA) system. This allows the driver and passenger to connect their mobile device via Bluetooth. It’s compatible with Android Auto to allow safe use of smartphone apps while onboard.
Power will never be an issue as the Outlander PHEV can supply up to 1500W of power from two on-board outlets (just like plugs at home). Gadgets can be charged through the USB ports while home appliances can be plugged into the car for outdoor leisure or in emergencies. Mitsubishi also offers a Vehicle to Home (V2H) facility to allow the Outlander PHEV to restore and supply electricity generated by solar panels to a home without power.
The Outlander PHEV also comes with the latest safety technology like Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC), Active Yaw Control (AYC), Active Stability Control (ASC) and an Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) for better control on the road.
It also comes with popular systems like Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), a Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) system, Ultrasonic misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS), Blind Spot Warning (BSW), and Lane Change Assist (LCA) features. There’s also Automatic High Beam (AHB), and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) designed especially for urban areas.

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is now available at Peak Motors Philippines Inc. (PMPI) Manila Bay. In the provinces, Fast Autoworld Philippines Corporation, SFM Sales Corporation, Motor Plaza Incorporated, Mindanao Integrated Commercial Enterprises Incorporated will start selling the Outlander PHEV by early 2021.
