New PNP chief Cascolan implements top-level revamp


Newly-installed Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Camilo Pancratius Cascolan has ordered a major revamp in the top brass of the organization a day after he assumed the highest police post.

Following Cascolan’s ascension as the 24th Chief PNP, Police Lt. Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar assumed the position of Deputy Chief for Administration, the second highest position in the PNP, that had just been vacated by the new PNP Chief.

Eleazar’s previous post as Deputy Chief for Operations was taken over by Police Lt. Gen. Cesar Hawthorne Binag.

Police Maj. Gen. Joselito Vera Cruz was appointed Chief of the Directorial Staff, the fourth highest position in the police organization

 Cascolan ordered the retention of Eleazar as the head of the Joint Task Force COVID Shield while Binag will take over the leadership of the Administrative Support for COVID-19 Task Force (ASCOTF) which takes care of the needs of the policemen assigned in the frontline.

Several senior police officials were also given  new positions in the revamp that was announced during the first command conference presided over by Cascolan as PNP Chief on Thursday.

Maj. Gen. Gilbert Cruz was named as the new head of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), his alma mater, while the post he would vacate, the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations  (DIPO) Northern Luzon was given to Maj. Gen. Jose Chiquito Malayo, the former PNPA Director.

Maj. Gen. Emmanuel Luis Licup was replaced as Director for Operations and will now head the Directorate for Comptrollership. The former Director of the Comptrollership, Maj. Gen. Marni Marcos was assigned to the Office of the Chief PNP.

Brig. Gen. Alfred Corpus replaced Licup as Director for Operations while Brig. Gen. Bartolome Bustamante is now the head of the Police Regional Office 5 in Bicol.

Brig. Gen. Rolando Hinanay was named the new Director for Personnel and Records Management while Brig. Gen. Steve Ludan is the new head of the PNP Crime Laboratory.
