ILOILO CITY—The 20 most wanted persons in this city were arrested by various units of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).

“This was an impressive way to start the week and I expect more results coming in,” said IPPO Director Colonel Paul Kenneth Lucas.
The top cop of Iloilo province was referring to the week-long intensified campaign known as “Birada Semana,” which is a monthly challenge for police units in the 42 towns and component city of Passi to go after the most wanted persons as well as beef up its operations against those engaged in illegal drugs and illegal gambling.
IPPO spokesman Master Sgt. Francisco Lindero Jr. told the Manila Bulletin on Thursday that police stations in the towns of Badiangan, Cabatuan, and Pavia each arrested two wanted persons.
The police stations in Ajuy, Anilao, Banate, Bingawan, Barotac Nuevo, Barotac Viejo, Calinog Dueñas, Miagao, Mina, San Enrique, Tigbauan, and Zarraga towns as well as Passi City arrested a wanted person each.
Policemen in Pavia and San Joaquin also arrested illegal drug personalities in buy-bust operations.
All police units in the province are currently cleared of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Lindero disclosed that after the quarantine of cops assigned in Igbaras and Miag-ao due to close contact with a positive COVID-19 case, there is no current case reported.
“We will test our personnel from time to time,” Lindero added.
