Jennylyn Mercado on single mothers: Keep your head up

Jennylyn Mercado has defended fellow single mothers over “naanakan lang” remarks.

The actress is a single mom to son Jazz (with ex-boyfriend Patrick Garcia).

"To all single moms out there, never let comments like this get to you," she wrote on Twitter. "We are more powerful than they think they are.”

For Jennylyn, having a kid early doesn’t make one less of a woman.

" In fact, it's the opposite. Being a single parent made us stronger than ever," the actress said. "It's not easy to be both mom and dads to children, but solo parents are doing it." 

She then addressed naysayers who belittle single mothers.

"Lahat ng mga kritisismo sa pagkatao namin nasabi na samin, and yet here we are, raising our kid(s) the best we can. Whatever you say, You can and will never bring a strong woman down," Jennylyn said.
