Ateneo waives ACET, admission to be based on academic performance

Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) will not be holding its Ateneo College Entrance Test (ACET) for new applicants for the academic year 2021-2022.

"We know there is a lot going on and we don't want to create more unneeded drama and stress," the university wrote on Tuesday.

Interested applicants will be evaluated based on past academic performance, on the recommendations of teachers, essay, and on information written down on the application posted on Ateneo's website.

"Times are evolving but our commitment to academic excellence and formation has not changed," it added.

The application for the academic year will be from September 1 to December 1, 2020.

Apart from Ateneo, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) also canceled its college entrance test (USTET).

Instead, admissions will be based on the UST Admission Rating (USTAR). The USTAR is a score that will be computed from a number of parameters derived from academic performance and record of the applicant.
