Collado is new Cebu provincial director

CEBU CITY—A former budget officer of Philippine National Police (PNP)-Special Action Force 9SAF) is the new chief of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO).

P/Col. Aladdin Collado replaced P/Col. Roderick Mariano, who served as CPPO chief for more than a year.

The order to replace Mariano came from national headquarters, said Police Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro, chief of the Police Regional Office Central Visayas.

Collado is a member of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Batch 1996. He is a classmate of Police Col. Josefino Ligan, the current chief of the Cebu City Police Office 9CPPO).

Ferro said the reshuffle was an opportunity for Mariano to go up to a higher rank.

“He’s been here for almost one year and two months. Since he is a prospect for a chief of staff or maybe for a higher position, we will be giving him the right to do that,” said Ferro.

At 50 years old, Mariano is also ripe for a directorial position that may help him get a star rank soon, added Ferro.

Collado has arrived in Cebu, but has to complete the mandatory 14-day quarantine before formally assuming his post.

 One of Ferro’s marching orders to Collado is to ensure that the “no take policy” should be enforced.

It can be recalled that upon his assumption as chief of PRO 7 seven months ago, Ferro led the signing of manifesto signifying that no policeman in the region should take “payola” from illegal activities.  

Ferro also tasked Collado to ensure the continued strict enforcement of community quarantine protocols in the province.

“He should take care of the CPPO personnel and see to it that the good things that have been done by his predecessor will be applied especially the Makatao, Malasakit Recovery Center. He should enhance it because every territorial unit should have their Makatao, Malasakit Recovery Center so that our people will be properly taken care of,” said Ferro.
