Caloocan converts two public school buildings into a 192-bed quarantine facility

The Caloocan City government has converted two buildings of a public elementary school into a 192-bed quarantine facility for patients infected with coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Mayor Oscar Malapitan on Saturday inspected the buildings at Tala Elementary School which will serve as temporary quarantine and treatment facility for COVID-19 patients.

The facility will also serve as isolation facility for city residents manifesting COVID-19 symptoms and waiting for the release of their swab results.

Malapitan said patients who will be staying at the facility will be monitored by the city’s health workers and be provided with free meals, vitamins, and free internet connection.

“Tanging pagpapagaling at pagpapalakas na lamang ng kanilang katawan at resistensya ng iisipin nila (All they have to think about is how to keep their body and resistance strong),” Malapitan said on Facebook.

The entire quarantine facility of Caloocan now has 1,222 beds, including the Tala facility.

Meanwhile, two non-government organizations (NGO) donated bicycles for the medical frontliners of Caloocan amid the limited transport options in Metro Manila.

The city government expressed its gratitude to Pilipinas in Action and Filipino-Indian Commerce and Welfare Society, Inc. for donating 10 bicycles for use of healthcare frontliners in the city.

Malapitan received the bicycle from Filipino-Indian Commerce and Welfare Society, Inc. President James Kumar.

The bikes were distributed to healthcare workers of the City Health Department, Caloocan City Medical Center, and Caloocan City North Medical Center.
