Senate pays last respects to Senator and Manila Mayor Lim
Senators paid its last respects to former Senator and Manila Mayor Alfredo S. Lim today.

Senate President Vicente Sotto III, in behalf of his colleagues, bade farewell to Lim as his funeral convoy passed by the Senate at around 8 a.m. before his interment.
"I just thought it proper to have someone here to give him respect," said Sotto who shed a tear for Lim.
Lim passed away last Aug. 8 due to COVID-19. He was 90.
Lim served as a senator under the 13th Congress from 2004 and 2007.
The Senate had earlier adopted a resolution honoring Lim for serving the country "with utmost dedication, honor, and dignity" in various capacities.
Aside from serving as a senator, he also worked as a policeman, becoming the police chief in the city of Manila, where he was also elected as chief executive in 1992 to 1998 and 2007 to 2013. He earned the moniker "Dirty Harry" for his efforts to rid Manila of drugs, prostitution, and other crimes.
Lim was appointed director of the National Bureau of Investigation in 1989 and Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary in 2000.
"The untimely demise of a true public servant, who had dedicated almost his entire life in serving his countrymen and whose principles and achievements in life are worth emulating but hard to duplicate, is a great loss not only to the bereaved family but to the nation as well,” the Senate said in the resolution.
Lim's remains were interred at the Manila North Cemetery.

Sotto, in behalf of his colleagues, bade farewell to Lim whose funeral convoy passed by the Senate around 8 a.m. of Saturday before his interment.
"I just thought it proper to have someone here to give him respect," Sotto said in a message to reporters, admitting that he shed a tear.
