The much-awaited collaboration between K-pop group BLACKPINK and pop star Selena Gomez has been finally revealed with the worldwide release of the single “Ice Cream” today (Aug. 28).
Gomez was confirmed to be the next artist to work with BLACKPINK in a song last Aug. 12 and the name of the song was unveiled on Aug. 21.
“Ice Cream” is BLACKPINK’s second single in two months after releasing the global hit “How You Like That” last June 26.
The two songs were released ahead of BLACKPINK’s first full-length album “The Album” that will drop on Oct. 2. YG Entertainment said “Ice Cream” is a cool song that “fits very well with the hot summer.”
During a recent video chat between BLACKPINK and Gomez, Rosé told the pop star, “I’m so happy to work with you. We’ve been a fan of you for a very long time.”
“I’ve also been a fan of you. It feels like a dream to work together with you,” Gomez replied to BLACKPINK, according to YG blog.
According to YG Entertainment, this year is BLACKPINK’s most successful comeback since their debut. “How You Like That’ became No. 1 on iTunes in 64 countries and territories and peaked at No. 2 on Spotify’s Global Top 50 chart.
YouTube earlier confirmed with Bulletin Entertainment that the “How You Like That” music video garnered 86.3 million views in its debut on June 26 to become the No. 1 most viewed music video in the first 24 hours of release, a title which they held until recently.
The YouTube Premiere of “How You Like That’ also garnered 1.66 million peak concurrent viewers to set an all-time record at the time.
BLACKPINK have the chance today to regain the No. 1 titles on YouTube through the single “Ice Cream.”
