Three multi-purpose buildings in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte were converted into separate quarantine facilities that can accommodate 120 mild, asymptomatic COVID-19 cases.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced Thursday the completion of the quarantine facilities located in Barangay Poblacion, Barangay Acmac (Sta. Felomina), and Barangay Tomas Cabili.
Apart from converting a covered court into several cubicles, a restroom and shower were also set up in the quarantine facilities.
According to the department, the facilities will be operated by the city health department, which will provide the much needed treatment of COVID-19 patients.
The facilities will also provide proper care of locally stranded individuals and returning overseas Filipinos undergoing the mandatory 14-day period of self-isolation.
Iligan City Mayor Celso Regencia said the newly-built isolation facilities will be of great help with the city already recording 234 COVID-19 cases as of August 26.
The quarantine facilities were turned over to the local government on Wednesday.
It was disclosed that more quarantine facilities will be constructed by the DPWH in Northern Mindanao including a 37-bed capacity facility in Barangay Lunotan, Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental; a 90-bed capacity facility in Talairon, Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental; and a 20 and 30-bed capacity facility respectively in Upper Puerto and Barangay Macasandig, both in Cagayan De Oro City.
