Davao City cop, taxi driver die in Tuesday night ambush


DAVAO CITY – A police officer was shot dead along with the cab driver here, by unidentified suspects on Tuesday night. 

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) identified the victims as Police Master Sgt. Jacksonpel Suan, supervisor of the Police Auxiliar Group of Sasa Police Station, while the name of the driver is yet to be determined. 

Report bared that the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. of August 25, at Km. 10 in Barangay Sasa.

Initial investigation report, the Suan boarded the taxi, bearing the name Shammari, as he was about to go back to the police station after rendering his duty at a quarantine control point at Km. 11, Barangay Sasa. 

It said that, upon reaching the Reta compound, unidentified suspects onboard an orange pick- up suddenly appeared at the right side of the taxi, and peppered the policeman and taxi driver with M-16 rifle gunfire that immediately resulted in the death of the victims.

The suspects reportedly fled to the southern after the incident. 

The police is now conducting follow up investigation on the incident, with initial developments showing that a security guard at a nearby garage witnessed the ambush unfold.
