On its official Facebook page, Route 196 said that it is already “at the end of the road.”

“We may be walking towards a different direction for now, but we wanted to make sure you had something to always remind you of our crazy ride together, the things we learned, the noise we made, the rules we broke, and the friends we picked up along the way,” it said.

The bar also announced it will release a “Route 196 Farewell” shirt as remembrance for its loyal patrons.

“Take us with you in your next journey. And never forget that, for 15 years, all roads led to Route 196,” it said.

Route 196 trended on Twitter Monday morning after the news of its closure.

Rob Cham, the illustrator who designed the farewell shirt for ROute 196, said the bar was where he “met a lot of good friends,” and “discovered new bands to love.”

“I had a lot of good memories at Route…I love Route 196 and I kinda just wanted to show people what I miss about it,” he tweeted.

The bar has been known as a home to rising and new Filipino bands and artists.

Among artists who have performed in the bar are IV of Spades, and This Band.
