Pasig City is hiring more healthcare professionals to boost the capacity of its centralized quarantine facility and isolate more patients infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“Kailangan natin ng karagdagang health care workers. So kung ikaw po ay isang healthcare worker nanawagan po ako, please apply (We need more health care workers. So if you are a healthcare worker I am appealing to you, please apply),” Mayor Vico Sotto said on Facebook live Monday.
“May sweldo po ‘yan. Actually, mas malaki nga ‘yung sweldo ng mga contract of service natin kumpara dun sa mga regular (You will be compensated. Actually, the salaries of our service contracts are much higher than the regulars),” he added.
There are currently 213 COVID-19 patients who are asymptomatic and isolated at Rizal High School, Pasig’s central quarantine facility.
“Meron pa tayong bakante. Siguro mga 10 to 20 beds ang bakante natin. Bakit ganun na lang yung bakante, dahil kulang tayo ng health care workers (We still have vacant beds. About 10 to 20 vacant beds. Why do we only have that remaining vacant beds? Because we lack healthcare workers),” he explained
Sotto said the local government is prepared to utilize more of the school’s facility to isolate infected patients but they need additional manpower to operate the quarantine facility and take care of quarantined patients.
“May available pa tayo na building, kwarto, kama may available pa tayong espasyo kaso hindi naman pwedeng magbukas tayo ng bagong building sa Rizal High School tapos kulang ‘yung staff (We still have available buildings, rooms, beds and space but we cannot just open a new building at Rizal High School if we are short of staff),” the mayor said.
Interested parties may send their application to [email protected].
“Sa ngayon hindi na tayo choosy. Sa ngayon kumukuha na tayo kahit hindi taga Pasig (Right now, we are no longer choosy. We are now accepting applicants who are non-residents of Pasig),” Sotto said.
