Quezon City's COVID-19 cases surge to 9,540 or 5.23 percent of national tally


The 9,540 coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) cases in Quezon City as of August 21 is 5.23 percent of the national tally of 182,365.

In its report, the Quezon City Health Department (QCHD) said the city logged 247 new COVID-19 cases which brought the total to the current level.

The same report noted 137 COVID-19 new recoveries bringing its number to 6,916 while six new deaths were recorded increasing the death toll to 391.

Of the total number of COVID-19 cases, the QCHD revealed that 2,233 cases remained active.

The city’s fourth district has the most number of COVID-19 cases with 2,165 followed by Districts 1 and 6 with 1,661 and 1,646 cases, respectively.

The breakdown in other areas of the city:  District 3 with 1,486D District 2 with 1,339 cases and District 5 with 1,243.

Barangay Batasan Hills has the most number of COVID-19 cases with 438 followed by Barangays Commonwealth and Pasong Tamo with 306 and 302, respectively.

Other barangays with high numbers of cases include Bahay Toro (294), Culiat (270), Holy Spirit (265), Tatalon (244) and Tandang Sora (209).
