The Taguig City government has put a workers’ quarter and a household under quarantine for 15 days after 38 persons were reported infected with coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
In an advisory, the Taguig Safe City Task Force announced that the workers’ quarters of a firm in Bgy. Palingon-Tipas will be on lockdown from Aug. 19 to Sept. 2.
The firm reportedly conducted a reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test on 52 people, 18 of whom tested positive for the virus.
“As soon as the swab test results were released, the City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CEDSU) investigated the area and determined a cluster of infections, explaining the sudden surge of positive cases in the area,” the Task Force said.
The workers’ quarter was cordoned off to prevent the entry and exit of people and will be manned round-the-clock by a team.
“Further testing will be conducted to determine the extent of the spread of the virus in the area. All the individuals under quarantine will be monitored regularly for their health and living conditions. The city will also provide the daily food and hygiene needs of the workers,” the Task Force said.
The Task Force also placed a household in Bgy. Katuparan on lockdown for the same period after 20 members tested positive for the virus.
Explaining the lockdown, the CEDSU said “the topography around the residence and the living situation of the family can place more people at risk.”
“Because of all these, they recommended an immediate lockdown. With the declaration of the localized lockdown, no one will be allowed into or out of the Katuparan address. Additional security measures will be enforced,” the task force said.
Affected individuals will get social and economic assistance from the city government and “the City will take all the necessary steps to both support the needs of the household under lockdown and secure the rest of the neighborhood from an outbreak.”
