Sotto, Zubiri record perfect attendance in regular sessions of 18th Congress


Senate President Vicente Sotto III and Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri have recorded a perfect attendance during the First Regular Session of the 18th Congress.

In the Senate's records of its members' attendance from the opening of the 18th Congress on July 22, 2019 to the sine die adjournment of their sessions on June 4, 2020, Sotto and Zubiri were present in all of the 67 plenary sessions and were always on time.

Sotto has consistently not recorded any absences or tardiness in the 17th Congress, as well as Zubiri.

Meanwhile, Senator Panfilo Lacson attended 66 sessions on time and was only absent for a day, while Sen. Nancy Binay missed the roll call in only one session day.

Senator Joel Villanueva had the third highest number of recorded attendance during the First Regular Session, attending 65 session days on time.

Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon and Senators Risa Hontiveros, Ronald dela Rosa, and Ramon Revilla also arrived on time 63 times. Revilla was in four official missions, one local, and three abroad.

Senators Christopher Go and Francis Tolentino were marked present and on time 62 times, with both arriving after the roll call four times. Go was out for an official mission abroad, while Tolentino was absent for a day.

Senators Sherwin Gatchalian and Cynthia Villar recorded their presence in 60 session days. Gatchalian arrived after the roll call seven times, while Villar was late five times, and absent for two days.

Senator Imee Marcos, for her part, recorded an attendance of 58 session days, eight arrivals after the roll call, and a day of absence.

Senators Sonny Angara, Pia Cayetano, and Manny Pacquiao tied for attending 57 session days on time.

Angara arrived after the roll call nine times and had been on an official mission in the country once; Cayetano arrived after the roll call six times, had three days of absence, and was also out for a day due to a local official mission; while Pacquiao was late five times, in a local official mission, and called in absent and sick four days.

Sen. Lito Lapid attended 55 session days on time and arrived after the roll call four times. He was on official missions twice, locally, and six times abroad.

Sen. Grace Poe attended 51 session days on time, missed 14 roll calls, and recorded two days of absence. S

en. Francis Pangilinan closely followed with an attendance of 50 plenary sessions, eight arrivals following the roll call, three official missions locally, and six absences where he called in sick twice.

Senator Koko Pimentel, meanwhile, was on time for 43 session days, but missed 20 roll calls and was absent four times.

Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto recorded his response to 36 roll calls, but arrived after 29 others. He was absent for two days.

Sen. Richard Gordon has attended 30 session days on time, and arrived after the roll call 32 times. He was on official mission abroad once, and was absent four times, thrice calling in sick.

Sen. Leila de Lima has recorded zero attendance as she remains in detention over drug charges since February, 2017. She recently filed a motion for bail.
