DAVAO CITY - A 52-year-old overseas Filipino worker (OFW), who had just returned from Saudi Arabia, has died of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) here Monday, August 17.
Based on the profiles of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Davao Region released on Tuesday, the male patient was admitted on August 16, and his history of exposure was still under investigation. The patient was a resident of Buhangin District here.
The Department of Health Davao Region (DOH 11) has recorded a total of 60 deaths in the region.
The DOH also recorded nine more cases on Monday, including a four-month-old girl from Barangay Tomas Monteverde here.
The infant’s history of exposure showed she was exposed to a confirmed case of COVID-19. At least 10 minors were among those who tested positive in the said barangay where a purok was recently placed under hard lockdown by the local government.
On Tuesday, 24 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the region to 1,809 with 486 active cases.
Of the latest cases, 14 were from Davao City, five from Davao del Norte, three from Davao Oriental, and two from Davao Occidental.
The latest cases also included four locally stranded individuals (LSI), two returning overseas Filipinos (ROF), and 18 local cases.
The DOH report also showed that 36 recoveries were recorded on Tuesday, bringing to 1,276 the number of patients who overcame the disease.
Among the recoveries, 14 were from Davao City, 11 from Davao del Norte, six from Davao Oriental, three from Davao del Sur, and two from Davao de Oro.
