As the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) ends, members of the Metro Manila Council (MMC) will meet Sunday (August 16) night to discuss their recommendations to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).

President Duterte is expected to announce the quarantine status of Metro Manila and the provinces of Laguna, Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal Monday after the current MECQ status ends on August 18.
MMC chairman and Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the members of the Council composed of all mayor of Metro Manila will discuss the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) situation in their respective areas and will take these into consideration in making a recommendation.
"Ang atin pong Metro Manila Council ay mag-me-meeting po bukas ng gabi para mapag-usapan po kung ano ang recommendation ng Metro Manila mayors sa ating IATF. Ang MMC po ay recommendatory lang po 'yan (The Metro Manila Council will meet Sunday night to discuss our recommendation to the IATF. The MMC is just a recommendatory body)," Olivarez said in an interview over DZMM Saturday (August 15).
"Iyon pong ekonomiya, binabalanse po iyan. Pero ako po personally, buhay muna po bago kabuhayan (We are balancing the economic side. But for me, life first before livelihood)," he added.
Should the government place NCR under the less restrictive general community quarantine (GCQ), the MMC chairman said they will strictly implement health and safety guidelines such as social distancing, wearing of face masks, and face shields
The MMC is the governing and policy-making body of the MMDA.
