Limited staff prompts DLSUMC’s Internal Medicine Dep’t to stop admitting patients

DASMARIÑAS, Cavite - De La Salle University Medical Center (DLSUMC) said on Sunday (August 16) that its Department of Internal Medicine will temporarily stop admitting patients due to limited healthcare workers.

The department will not be admitting coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and non-COVID-19 cases in the Emergency Room (ER), Outpatient Department (OPD), and urgent-care clinics until further notice.

The hospital announced Saturday that its ER and COVID-19 units have reached full capacity.

The hospital requests patients to seek immediate medical treatment in other healthcare facilities if they manifest any COVID-19 symptoms, including cough, colds, fever, diarrhea, sore throat, difficulty in breathing, and decreased sense of smell and taste.

As of August 15, 60 of DLSUMC's healthcare workers tested positive for COVID-19, with 49 recoveries, 10 active cases, and one death.

Sixty more of their healthcare workers are on home quarantine while waiting for swab test results or medical clearance.
