Cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) among Filipinos abroad increased to 9,893 as 15 new cases were confirmed Saturday, August 15, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.

There are 19 new recovered patients, bringing the total number of recoveries to 5,842. Three new fatalities were also reported, taking the death toll among infected overseas Filipinos to 725.
A total of 3,326 are currently undergoing treatment.
According to the Foreign Affairs department, the new confirmed cases were recorded in the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, and Middle East/Africa while the recoveries were reported from the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, and Europe.
The three new deaths were recorded in the Americas.
"Compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of Filipinos who have recovered from COVID-19 slightly decreased to 59.09 percent of the total confirmed cases," the department said.
"While those who are under treatment increased to 33.62 percent. Meanwhile, the percentage of fatalities among COVID-19-affected Filipinos abroad remains at 7 percent," it added.
Most of the COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos were recorded in the Middle East and Africa with 6,892 with 4,122 recoveries, and 444 deaths.
Countries in Europe have 1,146 Filipinos infected with the virus, 559 of them have already recovered, while 95 failed to survive the illness.
The Asia Pacific Region has 1,064 cases of Filipinos with COVID-19, 707 of them have already recovered, while eight succumbed to the disease.
The Americas recorded 791 cases of the disease among Filipinos with 454 recoveries, and 178 deaths.
