5,961 public school students in Pasay City to receive cash aid

 The Pasay City government announced on Thursday (Aug. 13) that from Aug. 13 to 17, 5,961 public school students in the city will receive their financial assistance of P3,000 covering January to March of school year 2019 to 2020.

 According to Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, the students who will receive their financial assistance are from Apelo Cruz Elementary School with 1,461 students, Villanueva Elementary School with 1,056 students, and Kalayaan National High School with 3,444 students.

 Rubiano called on the parents and the guardians of the students who qualify for the cash aid under the government’s Financial Assistance to Students Program to coordinate with the students' respective schools for the schedule of the distribution of the cash assistance.

She said the city government has distributed the financial aid to 22,710 other students in some of the city's public elementary and high schools, while preparing to give the same allowance to other students in the rest of the schools.

Rubiano said the recently scheduled distribution of the students' cash aid was delayed after the payout bank -- Land Bank-Taft Branch -- was placed under lockdown last July 30. 

The reason the city government gave for why they are rolling out the cash aid for three months of last school year only now is because the pandemic hit and suspended their efforts. They have not said when the cash aid for this incoming school year 2020 to 2021 will be distributed.
