Marcos dares PhilHealth execs linked to corruption to show delicadeza by resigning
Senator Imee R. Marcos on Monday dared officials linked to alleged widespread corruption at the state-run Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) to show "delicadeza’’ (sense of propriety) by resigning instead of waiting to be suspended or placed under preventive suspension.

Marcos, chairwoman of the Senate Economic Affairs Committee, said there is now a pressing need to overhaul PhilHealth as Filipinos have lost their faith in these officials.
She warned that employers or employees might want a refund of their contributions or stop remitting their contributions because they are fed up with the unabated corruption at PhilHealth.
These employers and employees were reportedly shocked by reports that the actuarial life of PhilHealth might end in 2021.
Many are now wary about giving their contributions to PhilHealth after the widespread corruption at PhilHealth was first revealed by Thorrson Montes Keith after resigning as PhilHealth anti-fraud officer, she pointed out.
On the reported failure of retired Brig. Gen. Ricardo Morales, PhilHealth president and chief executive officer (CEO), and PhilHealth Executive Vice President Arnel de Jesus to attend tomorrow’s public hearing by the Senate Committee of the Whole on the PhilHealth mess because of poor health, Marcos suggested that Senate should get their depositions or the two be asked to submit written narrations of what had transpired at PhilHealth, most likely on questionable transactions or decisions.
Senator Panfilo M. Lacson had earlier told Senate reporters that there would be new developments in tomorrow’s public inquiry.
He, however, refused to state whether there would be new witnesses or documents to be submitted.
