LTO-7 encourages public to use Malasakit Textline

CEBU CITY -- The Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO-7) has encouraged the public to use the Malasakit Textline as a dedicated contact number which could be texted when inquiring about LTO-related transactions.

LTO-7 Regional Director Victor Caindec said due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis, LTO-7 launched dedicated textline numbers: 0918-557-6658; for registrations, contact 0918-557-6662; for apprehensions, contact 0918-557-664; and for plates, contact 0918-807-3502.

Caindec said that due to the quarantine classifications being imposed in the different areas in Central Visayas some of their offices were closed, and some were temporarily shut down due to employees who were tested positive with the virus.

Caindec bared that, as of August 4, the LTO-7 Malasakit Textline has served more than 4,000 clients with the most number of inquiries on registrations (1,709 inquiries), licenses (998), apprehensions (833), plates (288), and transfer of ownership (287).

"LTO 7 has always been innovative since the beginning of the quarantine period.  We are so happy that more clients are availing of the service to minimize the inflow of our offices," Caindec added.

He said that, before the pandemic, most of their offices could cater to 120-150 clients per day, but this has since gone down to 80 clients per day.  The public can send inquiries via text messages Mondays to Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
