Cabinet members fly to Davao to join Duterte’s weekly COVID-19 report

Members of President Duterte's Cabinet made their way to Davao City on Monday to meet with the President before his weekly public address on updates on the country's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Presidential spokesman Harry Roque posted a photo on Facebook of him and Health Secretary Francisco Duque III seated inside a plane on their way to Davao City.

Palace reporters were told on Sunday that Roque will not be having his regular Monday pressers because of their flight to Davao City for the President's address.

The Palace spokesman, instead, will be having his press briefing in Davao City on Tuesday.

Roque confirmed on Friday that President Duterte's next public address and meeting with members of the Inter-agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases will be delivered from Davao City.

He, however, did not disclose the agenda of the said meeting.

"Ang susunod pong broadcast natin ay (mula) sa siyudad ng Davao. Magkakaroon po ng pagpupulong ang Presidente kasama po ang ilang mga piling miyembro ng IATF sa araw ng Lunes (Our next broadcast will be from Davao City. The President will meet with select IATF members on Monday)," he had said.

President Duterte has been in Davao City since August 3.

Duterte's meeting with the IATF in Davao City came a week after he placed Metro Manila and four nearby provinces back under the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
