Number of COVID-19 cases in Cotabato City now down to 2

COTABATO CITY – The number of active coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the city is down to two, Mayor Frances Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi announced late Saturday.

On August 8, local health authorities reported two recoveries, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 26 out of 28 cases with zero death.

“We are down to two cases,” Sayadi said in a statement, noting a 93 percent recovery rate in the city’s fight against the virus.

Sayadi said she hopes that the two remaining patients will also soon recover as they are being treated by health personnel at a government COVID-19 facility here.

To date, this city still holds the record of having the lowest number of Covid-19 cases in Region 12 (Soccsksargen) and is leading in the number of patients’ recovery.

The mayor urged city residents not to be complacent and continue observing minimum health standards such as wearing face masks and face shields at all times, wash their hands with soap and water frequently, and to observe safe physical distancing.
