15 Centenarians receive additional P5K cash gift from Pasig barangay
Fifteen centenarians from Barangay San Antonio in Pasig City received an additional P5,000 cash gift from the barangay, aside from the cash gift given by the city government.

Barangay San Antonio Chairman Raymond Lising said personnel of the barangay delivered the cash gift to the homes of the 15 centenarians.
"This is a one-time cash gift presented to them. Next year those who will reach 90 years old will be presented with the same cash gift," Lising said in a statement Sunday.
The barangay came up with their own cash gift because they wanted centenarians to feel important and valued.
Under Republic Act No. 10868 (The Centenarians Act of 2016), Filipinos who live to 100 years will receive P100,000 cash gifts each and a plaque of recognition from their respective local government units.
Lising said the cash gift is on top of the P1,000 mid-year cash gift that the barangay distributes to senior citizen residents.
"The only qualification is that they need to be registered voters, because that is the only way the barangay can validate if they are residents of Barangay San Antonio," Lising said.
The P1,000 mid-year cash gift to senior citizens who are residents of the barangay began in 2019, while the additional P5,000 cash gift to centenarians was implemented this year.
"We currently have 750 registered senior citizens in our barangay, and 90 percent of them have already received their mid-year cash gift," he said.
To make the cash distribution fast and easy, Lising said their barangay is eyeing to distribute the cash gifts through electronic-money (e-money) transfer services.
