A beneficiary of the first tranche of the government Special Amelioration Program (SAP) was arrested in an anti-illegal drug operation conducted by Bulacan PNP Thursday afternoon (Aug. 6).
Bulacan police director Col. Lawrence B. Cajipe identified the arrested SAP beneficiary as Jonathan Galvez alias "Athan," of Plaridel, Bulacan. Â
Based on a report by acting Plaridel police chief Maj. Wendel T. Ariñas, the suspect was caught in the act of selling a sachet of "shabu" (crystal methamphetamine) to an undercover agent.Â
Ariñas said that seized from Galvez were 30 sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of P20,500, the buy-bust money, and a Social Amelioration Card (SAC) receipt of "alias Athan."Â
Cajipe reminded cash aid beneficiaries that the national government is trying its best to allocate funds to affected pandemic low-income earners, and advised them to spend the money they received only for essential needs.
Meanwhile, seven other drug peddlers were arrested in a series of buy-bust operations in Sta. Maria, Norzagaray, and Marilao towns and in the City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
Confiscated were 11 sachets of shabu and buy-bust money. The arrested suspects and seized pieces of evidence were brought to Bulacan Crime Laboratory for examination.Â
Cajipe said the Bulacan police are stern and unrelenting in their crackdown on illegal drugs and all forms of criminality amidst this pandemic.
