The city government on Thursday (Aug. 6) tested over 800 vendors and local government unit (LGU) employees for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The expanded targeted mass swab testing was undertaken in coordination with the National Task Force (NTF) for COVID-19 and was conducted at Bacoor National High School-Tabing Dagat and Zapote Elementary School.
Among those who underwent swab tests were staff, personnel, security, and maintenance workers of the Hall of Justice, which was placed on a two-week lockdown starting Aug. 1 after two lawyers and a security guard contracted COVID-19.
Also tested were City Hall employees, vendors of Tabing Dagat talipapa (small market), and residents and vendors in Zapote, a district identified to have local community transmission.
Bacoor is among the areas in Cavite that have been experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases since more industries reopened in June.
As of Aug. 5, the city has recorded 815 confirmed cases, with 367 recoveries and 39 deaths.
